Dennis Siver survives knockdown to earn decision over BJ Penn

B.J. Penn was looking to get back on track at UFC Oklahoma City, but Dennis Siver had other plans, as he overcame some mid-match adversity, to pour it on strong down the stretch and earn the majority decision.

Penn landed a flush uppercut in the second round that sat Siver down on his keister, but the veteran kickboxer was able to recover and make it to the 3rd round. Siver came out strong in the third, landing a multitude of kicks, both to the legs and to the head, without much of any response from Penn.

Round 3 - Siver with an outside leg kick. Penn with a jab. Siver lands his own. Another outside leg kick. Penn backing off. They trade jabs. Siver misses with a wheel kick. Jab from BJ. Inside leg kick from Siver. Spinning back kick to the body from Siver. Hard jab from Siver. Penn looks tired. Siver throwing a bunch. Penn not so much. Another spinning kick from Siver. He’s beating up the inside of Penn’s legs with kicks.

Head kick too. Hard jab and kick. Siver’s eating him up here. He’s beating him up against the cage. Penn is just walking away. Head kick wobbles him. Big shots from Siver again. Penn warned for inactivity. Penn just looking to get to the horn. Siver kicks the legs some more. More spinning stuff. 10-9 and 29-28 Siver.
