Yair Rodriguez beat up a legend on Sunday night in the main event of UFC Fight Night 103 in Phoenix. After battering BJ Penn in the first round, Rodriguez got the finish in the second. A front kick and follow-up straight right hand dropped Penn to the canvas.

Rodriguez pounced on the Hall of Famer and pounded on him until referee John McCarthy stepped in to call an end to the fight.

OH. MY. GOODNESS. @panteraufc demolishes BJ Penn to claim #UFCPhoenix!https://t.co/3wilhSIS36

It was not a shocking result. Penn was a massive underdog. At 38 years old, Penn is far beyond his prime. The former two-division champion looked every bit his age in the Octagon with a 24-year-old, hungry, up-and-coming star.

Rodriguez used the dynamic kicking attack that has made him one of the top young stars in the UFC to dismantle Penn. It will be interesting to see who Rodriguez faces next in the featherweight division. He earned  one of the Performance of the Night bonuses for this performance. It was the easiest money he'll probably earn in his MMA career.

As for Penn, this has to be the end of the line. He looked horrible. Dana White and others in charge in the UFC should be ashamed of themselves if they promote another fight for him.
