Bisping put ‘T-Wood’ in his place when the UFC welterweight champ called into his podcast on Thursday.
UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping has an army of fighters that want to shut him up.
Since capturing promotional gold last year, Bisping has been revelling in the spotlight and made a whole lot of enemies in the process.
As well as being the number one target in the middleweight division, welterweight champ Tyron Woodley also has his sights set on ‘The Count’.
‘The Chosen One’ challenged him to a 180 lbs catchweight bout at the weekend, and Bisping was happy to oblige.
A few days after their backstage showdown, Woodley called into Bisping’s podcast, ‘The Countdown’, and the two got into it on the air.
Bisping, 37, was quick to put Woodley in his place and jokingly claimed that he’d ‘beat the f*ck’ out of him.
"Don't believe everything that people say to you, Tyron, because people kiss the ass when you're a world champion," Bisping said, per MMA Fighting. "But I've been around long enough to know that it's all bullsh*t, so don't believe everything that all your little team, all your little ‘yes men.' Everything they're telling you, it ain't true, because I'll do to you what f*cking Nate Marquardt did to you and beat the f*ck out of you, buddy."
Woodley, who seized the 170 lbs title after crushing Robbie Lawler in the first round and retained the belt with a draw against Stephen Thompson at UFC 205, said that Bisping got lucky when he dethroned Luke Rockhold last year.
"Do the math. Bisping, do the math," Woodley retorted. "How many fights have you had in the UFC and how many wins? I'm the UFC champion with six or seven wins. I'm just smarter. I fight tougher guys and I actually beat them. You fight the tougher guys and lose to them. Eventually, as long as you kept up with the sport, you were eventually going to fight for a world title and get lucky. We all knew that. It's a numbers game."
Although both men are entertaining a catchweight bout, it’s likely that Bisping will defend his 185-pound title against Yoel Romero in the coming months. Woodley, 34, has also campaigned to fight Nick Diaz but is likely to rematch ‘Wonderboy’.
