Ronda Rousey: Forget the money and PPV numbers, I want my belt back

Ronda Rousey delivers a short message leading up to her upcoming fight at UFC 207 against Amanda Nunes.

Since her return fight against Amanda Nunes was made official in October, Ronda Rousey has purposely kept herself away from the MMA media. This included the mandated press obligations that are usually done during fight week.

According to UFC president Dana White, Rousey was given a pass since “she has done a lot for the company.”

“If you look at the amount of press that’s been done by any fighter in the UFC, in UFC history, Ronda smokes everybody, by a long shot. This is the way she wanted it. The only thing she cares about right now is focusing on winning,” White said during Wednesday’s pre-fight media scrum.

Despite the loss, Rousey is still considered as one of the biggest (if not the biggest) names in the sport today. Rightfully, it is expected that the upcoming card will draw huge numbers for the main event fight alone. But for Rousey herself, all that matters is going home with the belt around her waist.

“I don’t care about how this pay-per-view does. I don’t care how much money I make. I don’t care about interviews, and I don’t care how I look,” Rousey said with a straight face (via TMZ Sports). “All I care about is winning my belt back on Friday night, and that’s it.”

Nunes and Rousey will be headlining UFC 207 this Friday, December 30th, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
