Far Eastern University arrested its three-game skid by pounding University of the East, 88-74, in the UAAP Season 84 men's basketball tournament, Tuesday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Xyrus Torres alone outscored the whole Red Warriors in the first quarter with three triples to lead the Tamaraws to an early 20-6 cushion and never looked back.

UE was able to cut the deficit to nine at the start of the fourth frame after a three-pointer but Torres went on a personal 8-2 blast to give the Tamaraws a fresh 15-point lead with 8:04 left.

FEU hiked its record to 2-3, tied with University of Santo Tomas for the fifth spot, while UE stayed luckless in five games.

“Much needed victory after a three-game losing streak,” said FEU coach Olsen Racela. “Back to the drawing board ulit kami before facing (Adamson and UP).”

Torres was a machine from behind the arc, nailing eight of his attempts, to finish with a career-high 26 points.

Emman Ojuola registered a monster double-double of 18 points and 19 rebounds.

Harvey Pagsanjan was the lone Red Warrior in double figures with 23 points on 20 shots. He was a perfect 11-of-11 from the line.

Jamike Jarin was in charge for UE as head coach Jack Santiago is still serving a two-game suspension.

UE will next face Ateneo de Manila University on Thursday at 4 pm before FEU clashes with Adamson University at 7 pm.
