FM SANDER SEVERINO TOPS PINOY CHESS CLUB ONLINE

SANDER SEVERINO of Silay City, Negros Occidental toppled fellow Fide Master (FM) Narquingden Reyes of Rodriguez, Rizal to win the 4th Julio Trunio Chess Cup last Friday (March 30, 2018) at the Pinoy Chess Club Online Facebook site.

Severino, Asean Para Games multiple gold medal winner received the top prize of P1,500 while Reyes went home the runner-up prize of P1,000 in the single-elimination tournament, knock-out format.

The two minutes bullet time control format, backed up by sportsman Julio Trunio Jr. in close cooperation with MindChess Philippines and Chairman Capt Bw Ronaldo Rnb Banaag.

According to Pinoy Chess Club Online Facilitator, Arbiter FNA Noel Morales, Severino defeated National Masters Ronald Llavanes, Joey Albert Florendo and Alcon John Datu to arranged a titular showdown with Reyes, who brought downed National Masters Marc Christian Nazario and Rolzon Roullo and Jerome Villanueva, respectively.

Third place Villanueva received P700 while 4th place Datu pocketed P500.

Meanwhile, the 1st Teofilo Paez Memorial Chess Cup tournament gets underway on April 7, 2018, Saturday at the sa Pinoy Chess Club Online Facebook site.-Marlon Bernardino-
