Co-league leader Blackwater plans to break the tie at the top as it looks to regain sole possession of first place even as three others look to break into the winning column in the 2019 Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup.

The Elite (5-1) shoot for a third straight victory when it goes up against powerhouse but ailing San Miguel (0-2) at 4:30 p.m. at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City today.

In the curtain-raiser, winless teams duke it out to see who gets that elusive first win as Magnolia (0-2) and NLEX (0-5) test each other at 7 p.m.

Blackwater’s fiery start came as a surprise to many but after showing consistency, it is showing that it is ready to breakthrough.

Still, Elite coach Aris Dimaunahan reminded his wards that there’s nothing to celebrate just yet.

“We’re in a good position right now with the start that we’re having but we can’t celebrate too much,” said Dimaunahan. “We’re still not yet in the playoffs.”

The Elite, figured in a triple-tie at the top with TNT and NorthPort, can move a step closer to the quarterfinals with another win.

On the other hand, the Beermen are in dire need of a win after they dropped their initial two assignments in lopsided fashion.

Like San Miguel, Magnolia and NLEX are still yet to win a single game.

Their paths will separate as one of them will finally bound to list one under the win column after their clash.

As for the Road Warriors, they can’t afford many errors as a loss or two can eliminate them right away from contention, given the tumultuous start they are having.
