Hotshots beat the Meralco Bolts, 104-103, and keep their Oppo PBA Governors’ Cup campaign alive after a thrilling match on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Wright tallied team-highs of 27 points and 14 rebounds as well as come up with the biggest shot of the game after a wild contest that saw five lead changes in the final minute of the game.

Peter June Simon added 16 points for Star while Marc Pingris chipped in with 15 points and nine boards. Allein Maliksi also scored 15 markers for the Hotshots, which missed the services of star James Yap.

With the win, Star snapped a five-game losing skid and improved to 2-7. They also kept from being mathematically eliminated from the playoff race, although they will still need to sweep their last two games, which includes games against No. 1-ranked TNT (8-1) and Rain or Shine(4-5).

Meralco dropped to 5-5 after losing a second straight heartbreaker following their four-point defeat to San Miguel in their previous game.

Durham almost lost the ball twice and had to put a desperate shot up but Reynel Hugnatan came up huge, finding the right spot for an offensive rebound and a layup that made it 103-102 for Meralco with only eight seconds on the clock.

But it was Wright that got the last word in after dropping in a floater with 0.7 seconds remaining to secure the victory for his team.
