Barangay Ginebra San Miguel's atrocious 1-5 start to its campaign is all but a thing in the past in the 2018 Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner's Cup.

Seven straight wins following that forgettable stretch, the Gin Kings have found themselves at the top of the heap and in the semifinals yet again for the sixth straight conference.

Even though many expected a tight series between Ginebra and Meralco in the quarterfinals, the Gin Kings stamped their class and continued to roll, sweeping the Bolts, 2-0, in their best-of-three affair.

Looking forward to the semis, Ginebra looks to sustain its winning form as it is now starting to peak as it goes deeper in the playoffs.

Gin Kings coach Tim Cone described their winning run as a good and bad thing as his team awaits the semis.

"Coming into the semifinals with a seven-game winning streak, we're facing a blessing and a curse at the same time," said Cone. "Blessing because we got momentum and are playing well and curse because at some point, you're going to come off the mountain."

Still, Cone is determined that he and his team will be able to find a way to keep it going.

"We sill see how we can stay on top of the mountain," Cone said.

While the other pairing in the semis was already set with San Miguel Beer and Alaska facing each other in a best-of-five series, the Gin Kings are still awaiting their dancing partner, as of this point.

Ginebra will face either top seed Rain or Shine and No. 8 GlobalPort in the semis.

As of press time, the Elasto Painters and the Batang Pier are still disputing the last berth in the final four in a do-or-die playoff in the quarterfinals.
