The Meralco Bolts ratcheted up their defensive intensity in crunch time to keep their 3rd winning streak intact against a Rain or shine team that is at the same stage of its development curve.

Meralco edge Rain or Shine, 89-73, on Saturday in the PBA Governors' Cup at the Ynares Center.

The Bolts rolled to their third straight win and spoiled a historic night for James Yap, who became a member of the league's elite 10,000-point club.

Import Allen Durham had 23 points and 23 rebounds to go with eight assists for the Bolts, who recovered after trailing for the most part of the first half.

"Our defense didn't really hold up in the beginning. So what we did in the second half was come out aggressive and it worked for us," said Meralco coach Norman Black.
