SAN Miguel Beer made history by being just the second team to win a Perpetual Trophy after taking its third straight Philippine Cup championship in the Philippine Basketball Association.

Still, the Beermen are far from satisfied.

Their thirst for more titles is still here.

Philippine Cup finals Most Valuable Player Chris Ross expressed his and his team’s desire to capture more championships ahead.

With San Miguel’s deep and talented roster intact, this can also serve as a warning to the rest of the league.

“We’re definitely looking to win more championships. We’re hoping to get another one in the next conference,” said Ross.

Three-time Most Valuable Player and Philippine Cup Best Player of the Conference June Mar Fajardo, like Ross, is also hoping the Beermen can keep their momentum and championship tradition going.

“Last season hindi na kami naka-champion after ng All-Filipino so sana ngayon makakuha pa kami,” said Fajardo.

Meanwhile, several star players are set to miss the early part of the upcoming Commissioner’s Cup due to injuries suffered during the playoffs of the Philippine Cup.

TNT KaTropa Jayson Castro is set to miss his team’s first few games as he continues to recover from his hamstring injury, something that kept him out of the Texters’ Game 7 encounter with San Miguel in the Philippine Cup semis.

Castro could be fit again by late March, while the Commissioner’s Cup begins in a week’s time.

Barangay Ginebra versatile forward Joe Devance, who played through pain for most of the playoffs with a plantar fasciitis, is also expected to miss some time as he will finally have surgery on his left foot to fix the injury.
