The Dioceldo Sy-owned franchise is hoping that the 6’10” Smith can be the answer that the team has been searching for and help it rise to even greater heights after showing signs of improvement in the Philippine Cup.

The PBA's prestigious Perpetual Trophy found a new home.The San Miguel Beer won the Philippine Cup, defeating the Brgy. Ginebra  91-85 Game in Sunday's Game 5 at the Araneta Coliseum. The Beermen wrapped up the series, 4-1, and become the second team in history to capture three straight All-Filipino titles. SAN Miguel Beer and Barangay Ginebra are still figuring in their heated battle in the 2017 Philippine Basketball Association Philippine Cup finals, but both teams are already looking forward to next conference as well as they have already secured imports for the Commissioner’s Cup.

For obvious reasons, the Gin Kings are set to bring back Justin Brownlee, their popular reinforcement, who helped them win the Governors’ Cup last season and end their eight-year title drought.

San Miguel Beer's Chris Ross was phenomenal in the Beermen's 99-88 win over Ginebra in Game 3 of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals at Araneta last night.

Chris had 24 pts (8 in the 4th period where SMB outscored Ginebra, 30-22) 4 rebs 8 assts. Jun Mar Fajardo, however, was named Best Player with 17 pts 18 rebs 3 assts as he led the charge down the stretch. Ginebra was on top 88-87 with 4 minutes left then SMB dropped a 12-0 bomb to end it. Ginebra missed its last 7 shots including 4 from beyond the arc.

ROUTED in the series-opener, the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings levelled their best-of-seven PBA Philippine Cup finals joust with the San Miguel Beermen with a 124-118 overtime win in Game Two last night in Lucena City.

Shot the lights out early, particularly in the second quarter, the Kings went for the separation and held on to avenge their 109-82 defeat in Game One and reduce the finals series to a best-of-five affair.
