Another game, another victory for the Milwaukee Bucks. They’d take down the visiting San Antonio Spurs tonight at Fiserv Forum, 127-118.
It was a familiar start to this one. LaMarcus Aldridge, who always seems to roast the Bucks, would waste no time in making his presence felt in this one. In the first quarter alone, he’d cash in on 14 points. Despite the hot shooting from the Spurs, Milwaukee would find themselves down by just a pair of points going into the second quarter thanks to an 8-0 run led by their bench, 31-29.
It may have been a while, but it was worth the wait. The Houston Rockets were at full-strength tonight, perhaps for the first time all season if you consider Eric Gordon was injured from the start, and they showed us a glimpse of what they’re capable of, thrashing the Denver Nuggets 130-104 to start off the new year on a positive note.
The New Orleans Pelicans couldn’t muster up the same amount of fight as they managed in the first game Anthony Davis played against his former team, and the Los Angeles Lakers led end-to-end as Davis exploded for 46 points and 13 rebounds while going a perfect 13-13 from the free-throw line in a 123-113 win.
He left Cleveland for Miami, finally became a champion, went back to his beloved northeast Ohio, delivered on another title promise, then left for the Los Angeles Lakers and the next challenge. He played in eight straight finals. No NBA player won more games or more MVP awards over the last 10 years than he did. He started a school. He married his high school sweetheart.
The best decade in Clippers history ended tonight, with a victory in Sacramento that pushed the team to 24-11 on the year.
It’s the right note to end the 2010s on, as this new Clippers core seeks to take the team to new heights in the 2020s.
The Los Angeles Lakers winning was never really in doubt in their third matchup of the season against the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday night, as the team did as good of a job slowing down sophomore sensation Luka Doncic as anyone this season while forcing 18 turnovers to come away with a 108-95 win.
Good morning (or afternoon, if you had a lively evening yesterday), and welcome to the new year. 2020 has big things in store, and we’ll kick things off with the Milwaukee Bucks welcoming the Minnesota Timberwolves to town.
Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis will be a duo for the ages. The Dallas Mavericks generate 114.1 points per 100 possessions when both share the floor, and of the 102 pairings that have played at least 600 minutes this season, only four are more efficient.
