Zaza Pachulia is returning to the Golden State Warriors, but this time as a member of the front office. The Warriors announced in a release that Pachulia would be brought on board as a team consultant.
Accepting a front office role means that Pachulia is officially done with his playing days after a 16-year career. The 6-foot-11 center played for six NBA teams, and spent the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons with the Warriors, averaging 5.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game while winning a pair of titles.
In even bigger news for the team, Mike Dunleavy Jr. has been promoted from pro scout to the team’s assistant general manager. Dunleavy Jr., who spent parts of five years playing for the Warriors after being drafted by the franchise in 2002, joined Golden State’s front office just one year ago. He retired from playing following the 2016-17 season.
Golden State also made a few other moves. Kirk Lacob (son of team co-chairman Joe Lacob), who has been with the team for eight years, was promoted to executive vice president of basketball operations. His brother Kent, who was the general manager of the Santa Cruz Warriors last year, was named director of team development.
Ralph Walker - who became famous for being Steph Curry’s personal security, before retiring - returned to the Warriors as director of team security. And finally, Jacob Rubin, who has held many positions over the fast few years, was promoted to assistant video coordinator.
