Celtics And Suns Could Explore Jayson Tatum, Devin Booker Swap Next Summer

So far, his name has been linked to Anthony Davis and the Pelicans. But could Tatum be a potential subject in a deal with Phoenix as well? In a report by Bleacher Report’s Grant Hughes, it is a possibility.

“In this scenario, Booker joins the Celtics in advance of Kyrie Irving’s departure for the New York Knicks, forming a new starting five of Marcus Smart, Booker, Jaylen Brown, Gordon Hayward and Al Horford (who’d have to pick up his $30.1 million player option to stick around). That’s an intriguing first unit. Boston would be selling low on Tatum, but shot creation would be a high priority if we’re assuming Irving is gone. And as much promise as Tatum has shown, Booker has already delivered huge numbers with better efficiency. Plus, the guard is only a year older than the forward.”

It makes sense, especially if Irving leaves this summer. The Celtics will need a shot creating guard, and Booker fits the bill. At 22, he is coming off a season averaging 26.6 points per game and 6.8 assists on 46% shooting.

And for Phoenix, it gives them a chance to restart in a sense. With Booker leading the show, the Suns have not fared well so far. Might they be better off with Tatum?

It remains to be seen, but both teams could benefit from a little mix-up.
