Both teams combined for the three-pointers in league history as Steph Curry’s 42 points overcame Buddy Hield’s 32. #barnburner

The Golden State Warriors outgunned the Sacramento Kings 127-123 in a game featuring the most combined made three’s in NBA history. Is it just me, or does it seem like every week some random team is breaking a three-point record on our defense? Weird.

Stephen Curry had 42 points and knocked down 10-of-20 from three-point range. Kevin Durantadded 29 points and Klay Thompson rang up 20 points of his own.

Buddy Hield nailed 8 triples (a career high) on his way to 32 points. Justin Jackson hit five three-pointers of his own and scored 28 points.

First Half
In case any one was wondering how the champs would deal after playing with their food and losing to the Houston Rockets Thursday, the Dubs landed on the Golden One Center floor with Terminator like intensity. The Warriors knocked down eight threes in the first 12 minutes of the game, en route to a 43 point quarter.

The young Kings were startled at first, but soon grew comfortable in the fast pace and responded with some hot shooting of their own. They marched back from an early 16 point deficit to take a 63-61 lead. At that point...it was on.

Thompson had 17 points after two quarters, Curry had 16, Durant added 13, and Quinn Cookcame up with 10 points off the bench. Thompson had four treys while Curry and Cook both had three of their own at the half.

The champs shot a blistering 59% from the field on 18 assists and were a pyroclastic 12-of-20 from beyond the arc.

Yet they only had a one point lead because the Kings made 11-of-17 triples and added 10-of-12 shots from the free throw line. Sacramento got downhill at will on Golden State’s defense, pushing the tempo and forcing the Warriors defense into compromising positions repeatedly.

This half was a testament to how the Golden Dynasty’s blueprint has been emulated by the league: scramble like hell and shoot the open three. No lead is safe.

Warriors 70, Kings 69
Second Half
Buddy Hield exploded in the third quarter for 17 points.

In the fourth quarter the Warriors roared back behind Curry and Durant three-pointers to take the lead. There was a hilarious moment where Curry got called for a travel on a step-back. He ran to to the ref to protest and gestured the number “13” on his chest, a clear reference to James Harden never being called for doing the exact same move. #trolling

Hield wouldn’t score another point after the third quarter though!

The teams traded haymakers from downtown throughout the fourth, before Draymond Greeneffectively sealed the game with a steal and alley-oop to Andre Iguodala for a dunk that put the Warriors up 125-121 with 56.8 seconds left.

Curry had 20 points of the Warriors 31 points in the fourth quarter (he played the entire frame, rotations be damned). He was animated throughout the shootout, and relished each bomb he dropped on the upstart Kings.

The Dubs finished with 29 assists and 13 turnovers. What a game!

SO MANY THREES!
