Boogie’s options just expanded out to the West Coast.

DeMarcus Cousins is one of the most interesting free agents in this year’s pool because he’s All-Star big man coming off of a torn Achilles. But that injury reportedly hasn’t limited the interest in him around the league.

Cousins has received calls from both the Pelicans and the Lakers, according to The Undefeated’s Marc Spears, and he’s expected to setup meetings with both teams soon. Things just got really interesting for the star big man who’s expected to cash in on what could be the final big contract of his career.

The Lakers are interesting
Los Angeles has cap space to sign at least one max free agent, and if there were two interesting in coming to town, the Lakers could clear more than $70 million to sign players this summer. One of those players was expected to be Paul George, but he re-signed with the Thunder for four years on Saturday. The other is LeBron James, who could leave Cleveland for Los Angeles and is expected across many pockets of NBA circles to do just that this summer.

The Lakers are also in the conversation to trade for Kawhi Leonard, and a Boogie-LeBron-Leonardtrio is as frightening as they come.

But he could also re-sign with the Pelicans
It’s unclear what New Orleans has planned to offer, but the Pelicans can offer Boogie more money and more years on a contract than any other team. His health is unknown at this point, but he’s advanced from being unable to put weight on his left foot to sprinting, shooting jump shots and doing leg presses. That’s progress, and there is still some to be made.

New Orleans, though, seemed to play better in the second half of the season, which makes for a confusing free agency period since Anthony Davis enjoys having Boogie on the team.

No one knows what matters most to Cousins right now, but he liked an Instagram comment that suggested the Pelicans give him a max contract. In moments like these, money talks, and if New Orleans isn’t willing to cash out, Cousins seems to have found another team that will.
