Utah Jazz Guard Donovan Mitchell on Super Teams: ‘Find Ways to Adapt and Beat Them”

Donovan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz was recently in Manila for an Asia tour sponsored by Adidas. During the press conference, he was asked particularly about playing against Super Teams. The Rookie Guard wasn’t at all surprised with the question.

The Golden State Warriors has clearly dominated the league in the last four years. Since Kevin Durant signed with a Super Team like the Warriors a couple of years ago, twenty-nine other teams still haven’t quite figured out how to beat them yet. “I think it’s that’s just how the way it’s played now,” Mitchell said. “There’s no sense in saying I don’t like or I do like it because you have to adjust.”

Some teams – most notably in the Western Conference – have played against the reigning NBA champs multiple times a year and the Utah Jazz is one of them.

Bottom-line though, “Spida” Mitchell simply doesn’t mind “Super Teams” at all. “I don’t think it’s necessarily bad, I think it’s just what needs to be done,” the 2018 NBA Slam Dunk champion admitted.

“Golden State’s been champions for the past three or four years, you gotta find ways to adapt to beat them. That’s just how it is. That’s what you gotta do.“
