Kevin Durant named NBA Finals MVP

Two years ago Kevin Durant joined the Golden State Warriors because he wanted to grow as a player and as a person. And on Friday night, he celebrated not only his second championship with the team, but his second NBA Finals MVP award as well.

Following the Warriors 108-85 victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 4 to secure a sweep, Durant once again received the Bill Russell award for excellence in the NBA Finals. And it was incredibly well deserved.

After a slow (by his standards) start to the series, Durant dominated when the Finals moved to Cleveland. In Game 3 he had a wildly efficient 43 points, and in the clinching Game 4 he threw together a triple-double with 20 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists, and 3 blocks. He became the sixth player to repeat as Finals MVP.

Watching the entire team - especially Stephen Curry - celebrate Durant’s individual accomplishment was a reminder that this team only cares about one thing: the team accomplishment.

The Warriors, and Durant, have firmly taken their place among the greatest teams and players in NBA history.
