The Knicks beat the Cavs for the first time in 11 tries.

Regular victory!

Sunday night’s clash with the Cleveland Cavaliers looked to be yet another one of those games where New York plays well for three periods before faltering down the stretch to a superior club. The three-time defending conference champs—who had won their last 10 games against the ‘Bockers—trimmed a 17-point lead to six within the first few minutes of the fourth quarter. Kristaps Porzingis was being guarded by LeBron James, who is pretty good at basketball, and was struggling mightily to get off his shot. Oh well.

SIKE! Just as everything looked to be unraveling, the Unicorn erupted with two three-pointers and a sassy scoop layup, blocked Derrick Rose (be still my hear!) and joined with his teammates to drop the hammer on Cleveland late. Suddenly a close game turned into a 114-95 laugher.

Shockingly, Kristaps’ 32 points took a backseat to Tim Hardaway Jr., who woke the hell up offensively to the tune of 34 points.

He also chipped in 8 assists, which would have been unthinkable three years ago. This one was a sweet fast-break dish to Enes Kanter—you don’t see the pass because Tim was still in the backcourt.

And so KP had to settle for 32 points, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks. Kanter (18 points, 12 rebounds) and Courtney Lee (15 points, 10 rebounds) also tallied double-doubles.

Also...Frank!

Harrison will have the recap later. Good stuff!
