Lakers add another rim protector in Bogut after his recovery from a broken tibia.

Veteran center Andrew Bogut has signed a one-year deal at the veterans minimum with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to The Vertical’s Shams Charania. He joins Brook Lopez, Ivica Zubac and rookie Thomas Bryant to form a deep cast of Lakers big men.

Bogut played in 26 games with the Mavericks last season, averaging three points and eight rebounds before Dallas bought out his contract so he could join a contender. He then signed a contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers but broke his tibia in his first game.

Bogut’s addition gives the Lakers another rim protector and hard screen-setter, as well as a selfless big who does not need the ball to be effective. He was a valuable member of the 2015 Golden State Warriors team that defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers to win an NBA championship.
