Officers are investigating a racial slur spray painted onto the front gate of James’ Brentwood home early Wednesday morning.

LeBron James’ home in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles was vandalized with a racial slur on Wednesday morning, the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to SB Nation.

LAPD officers received a call at 6:44 a.m. on Wednesday and responded to James’ front gate, which had a racial slur spray painted on it. The gate has since been repainted, officials confirmed, and an investigation is underway.

James bought the house in 2015.

LAPD officials said they have yet to deem the vandalization a hate crime. Additional details about the crime and investigation are unavailable at the moment.

Officers are currently looking for nearby security footage that may have captured the vandals on tape, according to TMZ.

James took the podium to address the incident on Wednesday, where he said "It goes to show racism will always be a part of the world, a part of America."

James is currently preparing for Game 1 of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ NBA Finals series against the Golden State Warriors in Oakland, which begins on Thursday.

We will provide more details as they become available.
