After Kyrie Irving missed a game winning attempt, LeBron took over

LeBron James played 47 minutes tonight. That’s a lot, and it’d be tough to swallow if the team hadn’t come home with a win. The issue was very much in doubt, but James himself took matters into his own hands with long three pointers sprinkled in throughout the second half and overtime. He got just enough help from Kyrie Irving and company, and the Cavs scored a tough road victory over a decent team without Kevin Love.

It was hard-fought, but it was a hard-fought good result.

Your Cleveland Cavaliers, 114. The Milwaukee Bucks, 108. It was the Cavs’ 20th win of the season, and improved their record to 20-6.

These are the games you hope you don’t need from LeBron James in December, but when the Cavs are hurting for depth and down a member of the Big 3, sometimes it’s hard to avoid. He was all-world, notching 34 points on 25 shots, 12 rebounds, seven assists, and just two turnovers.

The Cavs set the tone early defensively and with excellent shooting, building a huge first half lead. Both attributes disappeared for much of the second and third quarters before the Cavs appeared to regain control late before the final period. Kyrie Irving had five assists in the first quarter, and then didn’t record another for the rest of the game. Still, 28 points on 23 shots with just two turnovers is probably alright when you are looking for offense with Love out is pretty nice. J.R. Smith also sat out the 2nd half with a right thumb injury. We’ll keep you updated there.

Jabari Parker and Giannis Antetokounmpo are going to be very good, if they aren’t already. They’ll be a team to watch. You’ll get another chance tomorrow, when they play the Cavs again in Cleveland. See you then.
