Led by standout performances from DeAndre Jordan and Chris Paul, the Clippers avenged their Christmas night loss to the Lakers.

The Clippers usually aren’t the kind of team that gets fired up to play early weekend games. Their Saturday and Sunday matinees are usually sluggish, hard-to-watch tilts that tend to leave you wondering whether watching the game was worth it, even after a win.

Down go the Champs! Allen Crabbe and CJ McCollum lead the Blazers to a huge victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

What a shocker! The Portland Trail Blazers took care of business against the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Moda Center for the third straight season, winning 102-86. On the second half of their road trip, the Cavs were unprepared for the Blazers’ aggressive play and bench scoring.

Golden State turns a two point halftime lead over Detroit into playing time for Anderson Varejao.

Once again, the Golden State Warriors let a team hang around for the first half. This time, it was the slow-playing Detroit Pistons. How slow, you ask? Detroit managed to score a whopping two fast break points — and they came in garbage time.

The Spurs beat the Lakers by the largest margin ever in a well-executed home game.

What a performance from the San Antonio Spurs coming off of their tough loss to the Bucks on Tuesday night. The Spurs put an absolute whooping on the visiting Lakers in a game that pretty much was not a contest, dropping a season-high 134 points at the final buzzer.

At the end of the first quarter the Spurs had built a 12-point lead at 36-24 and aside from the Lakers cutting the Spurs lead to four with seven minutes left to play in the second quarter there was no drama in this one. The Spurs finished the second quarter by outscoring Los Angeles 27-13 and basically put the game away at 72-54.

It wasn’t pretty without Anthony Davis, but a win is a win in the race for the eighth seed.

Three minutes of good basketball was all it took for the New Orleans Pelicans to put away the Brooklyn Nets 104-95 tonight. After 45 minutes of uneven play (that’s being rather generous), the Pels were trailing the plucky Nets. There had been opportunities, especially in the third quarter, to make a statement and instead New Orleans quite literally threw them away. Yet, when it mattered most they buckled down and pulled out a victory without Anthony Davis.
