Nine years into his NBA career, Avery Bradley has built himself a reputation as somebody ready for any challenge on either side of the court.

While offense may be the setting for most highlights, Bradley prides himself on being a two-way player and calls defense his “main talent.”

Back in June, Patrick Patterson opted into the final year of his three-year deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, following the departures of Paul George, Russell Westbrook, and Jerami Grant, Patterson agreed to a buyout with the Thunder last week.

The 2019 offseason is now coming to a close, although NBA fans have already been treated to plenty of noteworthy moves. Superstars such as Paul George and Russell Westbrook split ways and were both traded to title-contending teams in the LA Clippers and Houston Rockets respectively as the duo moved on from OKC Thunder.

Anthony Davis was finally granted his wish of wanting to play for the LA Lakers whereas several other superstars tested gauged the free agency market for a new challenge. As a result, the likes of Kawhi Leonard, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Durant will all be featuring for new teams in the coming season.

The 2019-20 campaign is bound to be one of the most exciting seasons in recent memory, and additional trades could still happen in the coming weeks. So, with plenty going on around the NBA, here are all the latest news and rumors you need to know for August 5th.

ATLANTA — Vince Carter is putting off retirement for at least one more season.

With that, he’ll claim the longest career in NBA history all to himself.

A person familiar with the situation confirmed that Carter has agreed to terms on a one-year contract to return to the Atlanta Hawks for his record 22nd season. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the deal has not been announced.

The 42-year-old Carter never wavered in his desire to play with someone this season. He is tied with Robert Parish, Kevin Garnett, Kevin Willis and recently retired Dirk Nowitzki — all of whom played for 21 seasons — for the longest career in NBA history.

“Just waiting for the right opportunity,” he said on a recent conference call to discuss the upcoming Jr. NBA Global Championship, when questioned by a reporter from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “Nothing has changed as far as that goal and that dream of mine.”

The deal was first reported by ESPN.

John Wall was drafted as the first overall pick by the Washington Wizards in the 2010 NBA Draft, and the point guard has since become a five-time All-Star. Wall is currently signed to a four-year, $170 million contract, and despite the franchise's recent troubles, Wall has reiterated his desire to spend his entire career in Washington:

"I’m not one of those guys that wants to play for multiple teams. I want to play for one organization. If it comes down to it, where you have to move around and it don't work, they're giving me the opportunity to come back, not this year but next year after."

Wall has played just 73 times over the past two seasons and is expected to miss the entire 19-20 campaign with a ruptured left Achilles tendon.

Among players on expiring contracts, only Anthony Davis is more accomplished, and Davis is almost assuredly going to re-sign with the L.A. Lakers. The Warriors would have been favored to retain Green, but it has not been considered a sure thing by anyone who watches Golden State, especially not after the weird 2018-19 season that included a team suspension for Green and behavior from the elite defender that clearly exasperated coach Steve Kerr more than usual.
