Flyweight Ben Nguyen just picked up a stunning submission win over Tim Elliott at UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Hunt in Auckland, New Zealand.

Ben Nguyen was supposed to fight Joseph Benavidez at UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Hunt in Auckland, New Zealand, but Benavidez withdrew due to injury and was replaced by Tim Elliott, who is only a few months removed from a spirited performance against champion Demetrious Johnson. While Benavidez is higher ranked than Elliott, Nguyen still had a big opportunity to get a win over a top-10 ranked opponent, and did he ever make a statement.

IBF World junior middleweight champion Jarrett Hurd will be defending his title for the first time next month against former WBA 154lb champion Austin Trout on July 29 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Hurd, 26, needed to get an exception to face #14 Trout by the International Boxing Federation, because he was supposed to fight #3 IBF Cedric Vitu in his first defense.

UFC sophomore Alex Volkanovski describes how he went from a 210lb rugby player to an MMA featherweight.

At last year’s UFC Fight Night 101: Whittaker vs. Brunson, Alex Volkanovski won his UFC debut, advancing his record to an impressive 14-1. The victory, in which he subdued Yusuke Kasuya with punches, was the 28-year-old’s sixth stoppage win in row.

“It’s always an unreal feeling to get the win, but to get it in the UFC - especially on my debut - it was amazing,” said Volkanovski to Bloody Elbow. “It was a long time coming and now I just want to get that feeling a lot more, so I can’t wait to get in there and get my hand raised again.”

Jon Jones has been tag-teamed by Daniel Cormier and Alexander Gustafsson this week, regarding his failed USADA drug test at UFC 200.

Gustafsson, who lost to Jones via decision in a championship epic at UFC 172, claimed in a recent interview with Ariel Helwani that 'Bones' has probably been using performance-enhancing drugs for a 'long time' and believes he was using illegal substances in their five-round classic in 2013.
