Cain Velasquez isn’t surprised ‘massive’ Brock Lesnar failed drug test

Earlier this year, it was revealed that former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs. The WWE-UFC hybrid flagged for Hydroxy-clomiphene, the same anti-estrogen agent that Jon Jones tested positive for.

The results stemmed from an out-of-competition drug test conducted by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) on June 28, but were not released until after his bout with Mark Hunt at UFC 200. Lesnar went on to beat Hunt via unanimous decision, and ‘Super Samoan’ is not too happy with the way things played out.

Two-time heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez, who battered Lesnar in a championship epic at UFC 121, says he was hardly surprised by the news.

"I would say from looking at his body that it didn't surprise me, you know?" Velasquez said on The MMA Hour, per Dave Doyle of MMA Fighting. "He's just a big, massive guy and you don't see other fighters like that."

Velasquez is glad the sport is being cleaned up and thinks the USADA is doing a fantastic job.

"That he came out positive, it kind of sucks because I just want my competitors, the guys who I fight against, I want them to be on the same level that I am, you know?" Velasquez continued. "Just some of the people out there that are cheating, it's good that we're catching them, USADA is doing a great job of catching them, and hopefully discourages others from doing them so this sport can be a clean sport."

Velasquez scored a first-round TKO against Travis Browne at UFC 200 and could be next in line for a title shot.

Lesnar, 39, has been temporarily suspended and awaits a hearing with the Nevada State Athletic Commission. It’s been reported that the professional and amateur wrestler could receive a reduced suspension or bypass a ban altogether.
