After CM Punk was dominated and submitted rather easily in his mixed martial arts (MMA) debut at last night's (Sat., Sept. 10, 2016) UFC 203 event in Cleveland, Ohio by Mickey Gall (see it), the fight world took to Twitter to offer up their mixed reactions.

Current UFC Featherweight champion Conor McGregor, though, gave his opinion to the ever-present cameras of TMZ, saying that despite the one-sided beatdown Punk suffered, he earned his respect since he actually had the guts to step into the cage, unlike the rest of the "WWE pussies" who wouldn't even dare.

His words:

"I'll tell you what, fair play to him because he got in there and fought, and not a lot of people do. Not a lot of people have the balls to make that walk, so fair play. (He) got his ass whooped. God bless - he got his ass whooped. Those WWE guys are straight pussies, I told you all - but he isn't. He got in and fought, so fair play to him. Respect."

Sure, "Notorious" had previously given Brock Lesnar props for doing the same, but after the former Heavyweight champion failed his UFC 200 pre and post-fight drug tests, "Beast Incarnate" felt the verbal wrath of the Irishman.

As far as Punk is concerned, there's no telling what will be the next step for his MMA career, as he says he plans on getting better and continuing his combat quest. Whether or not he keeps doing it inside the eight-walled cage, remains to be seen.
