Rafael dos Anjos meets Tony Ferguson on November UFC card in Mexico City

Tony Ferguson has long clamored for a fight with a top-level opponent who can land him in a title shot. Former champ Rafael dos Anjos wants a chance to win his title back.

Both men have the opportunity to move one step closer to their ultimate goal when they clash in Mexico City on November 5.

The bout was initially reported by Champions.co and was subsequently confirmed by MMAjunkie. Venue and broadcast information have yet to be confirmed though it is believed the event will also feature the finale of the latest edition of “The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America.”

Ferguson (21-3 MMA, 11-1 UFC) is coming off a shockingly difficult test from late-replacement opponent Lando Vannata at UFC Fight Night 91. After repeatedly almost being knocked out, Ferguson stormed back to score the second-round D’arce choke submission.

He is currently riding an eight-fight winning streak and is ranked No. 4 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA lightweight rankings.

Formerly the top man in the division, dos Anjos (25-8 MMA, 14-6 UFC) lost his title by quick knockout at the hands of Eddie Alvarez at UFC Fight Night 90. The defeat snapped a five-fight winning streak for the Brazilian.

Following the loss, dos Anjos dropped to No. 3 in the division.
