UFC middleweight Johny Hendricks expects great results after a year of training at the Jackson-Winkeljohn Academy in New Mexico.

Early last month, former UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks made the big move to the famous Jackson-Winkeljohn Academy in Albuquerque. At the time, it was not clear if it would be a permanent arrangement, or if it was just for his camp in preparation for Paulo Borrachinha at UFC 217.

Apparently, Jackson-Wink will indeed be Hendricks’ new home team. And as early as now, he foresees major improvements in his game that he expects to be evident in a year’s time.

“One of the reasons why I went there is because they’ve already trained for me a couple of times,” Hendricks told MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani in a pre-fight media scrum. “They’ve been on the opposite side of me, so they know what kind of fighter I was, and what kind of fighter I want to be now.”

“(Greg) Jackson, he’s so smart when it comes to that aspect. And then (Mike) Wink(eljohn), yo, he’s right there with him. You put those two together, and put my boxing coach in there – you give me a year with those three – Jackson, Wink, and my boxing coach Tony (Cabello), I don’t think anybody beats me on my feet. I don’t think anybody beats me in a year.”

Hendricks will be part of the same card as Georges St-Pierre, whom he fought to a controversial split decision in 2013. “Big Rigg” feels he still has some unsettled business with GSP, and wants a rematch down the line.

“If he loses and I win, I just want a rematch.”

UFC 217, which features three title fights, takes place this Saturday, November 4th, at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
