UFC breakout fighter Darren Till politely calls out Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson

Darren Till likes the idea of a striking battle against Stephen Thompson.

Darren Till might have called out ‘Platinum’ Mike Perry after his massive win over Donald Cerrone at UFC Fight Night 118, but it looks looks as though the 24-year-old has had a change of heart.

Formerly unranked, Till has stormed into the top 10 welterweight rankings with his first-round TKO over ‘Cowboy’ and the breakout talent has his sights set on the divisional elite.

Till politely called out former two-time UFC welterweight title challenger Stephen Thompson, who is considered one of the best strikers in the division.

Till, 24, has a background in Muay Thai and was the former K-1 European champion, but it was his boxing that made the difference against Cerrone. Till teed off on Cerrone with jabs and left hands before overwhelming the UFC fan favorite with a flurry of punches in the last minute of the opening round.

Thompson, a former undefeated kickboxer, will look to spring back into the winner’s column at UFC 217, where he faces MMA veteran Jorge Masvidal at Madison Square Garden.

Till, who used to train full-time in Brazil before moving back to England earlier this year, is also up for a fight with Masvidal should he beat Wonderboy next month.

UFC 217, which features a headlining middleweight championship bout between Michael Bisping and Georges St-Pierre, takes place next month, Nov. 4 at Madison Square Garden, New York.
