Mark Hunt gets TKO over Derrick Lewis in the 4th

The UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Hunt marquee matchup saw the #7 ranked Mark Hunt get a standing TKO on the #6 Derrick Lewis in the fourth round. The tempo was rather slow to open up the UFC Auckland main event, with both men conserving energy while being extra cautious of the other man’s power. The second frame saw the action pick up, as Hunt was able to wobble Lewis with a well placed elbow. Lewis would recover and return some fire of his own, as the big men flurried as the second round came to a close.

Derrick Lewis began to slow in the third, as he was seen with his hands on his hip. Hunt continued with his forward pressure, scoring with ripping body shots. Hunt continued to pour it as the fatigued Lewis religiously backed himself up to the cage. Lewis would explode with a haymaker or two, but would then retreat back to the fence to catch his breath. Hunt smelled blood in the water, and unloaded with a brutal flurry to the head and body of his opponent, forcing Lewis to fold up, and the referee to stop the fight.

Round 4 - Hunt goes right to the body. Outside leg kick from Hunt. Hunt rips to the body as Lewis just circles out. Stiff jab from Hunt. Body kick from Lewis. Hunt fires back with a leg kick. Double jab and a right stuns Lewis! Lewis is barely standing from fatigue. He fired back with a big combo though. Hunt to the body again. Right hook from Hunt. Jab too. Lewis missing with the one-hitter quitters. Hunt with a right hand and Lewis staggered! Jumping knee from Lewis! Hunt with an elbow to the spine it looked like! Hunt opens up with strikes and Marc Goddard steps in. What a win for The Super Samoan.
