UFC: McGregor warned super fight could get 'embarrassing'

UFC champion Conor McGregor has been warned it could get “embarrassing” if he steps into the ring against former boxing champion Floyd Mayweather.

The lightweight champion will earn the pay-packet of his career - figures of $100 million have been reported in the media - if the super fight against arguably the greatest pound-for-pound boxer materialises.

The dizzying figures have provoked other MMA fighters to seriously consider taking on the best of the boxing world at their own game.

But UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier believes any fighter thinking of making the switch is in for a rude shock.

“These dudes will get slept and it’s going to be embarrassing,” Cormier told “UFC Tonight”.

“[McGregor] can actually go and fight Mayweather and I’ve said it time and time again on this show, he will lose.

“The rest of these guys, they will get no money and they will also get slept.

“So no, it is not good for the UFC.

“Conor, hats off to you, make your money but don’t get slept, which might happen to him.”
