Top boxer Lomachenko: I used to win grappling tournaments, should I fight in the UFC?

Top pound-for-pound boxer Vasyl Lomachenko says he used to win wrestling, judo, and sambo tournaments as a kid.

Vasyl Lomachenko is currently considered by many as the most skilled boxer in the world right now. Even with just 9 professional bouts, the two-time Olympic gold medalist — who reportedly went 396-1 as an amateur — is already a two-division champion and among the top pound-for-pound fighters in the sport.

Vasyl, who recently sparred with former UFC champ T.J. Dillashaw, took to social media to talk about a possible switch to mixed martial arts. The 29-year-old Ukrainian says he used to win sambo and multiple grappling tournaments when he was younger.

Of course, much like his Ninja Turtle call out of Conor McGregor, Lomachenko said this was also done in jest.

Lomachenko also recently said he likes McGregor, who he thinks is ‘funny’ and ‘very smart for this business’. He also offered to spar Conor, saying it could help the two division UFC champion.

“I send this message for him, but I’m not talking about an official fight. I say (have a) boxing test,” Vasyl said earlier. “If we make a sparring session, I think it will be great for him, because I can show him boxing skills.”
