UFC 207: Ronda Rousey will officially not be taking part in media day

It has been confirmed that Rousey will not be present for next Wednesday’s Ultimate Media Day to promote UFC 207.

Ronda Rousey has completely shut out the media ahead of her bantamweight showdown with Amanda Nunes at UFC 207, MMA Junkie confirmed on Friday.

Rousey, the former 135-pound champion, lost the belt to Holly Holm at UFC 193. The Olympic bronze medalist was knocked out in the second round by a vicious head kick and follow-up punches, and has shunned the MMA media ever since.

Several fighters competing at UFC 207, including co-headliners Dominick Cruz and T.J. Dillashaw, will field questions from reporters at the UFC’s sole media arrangement, Ultimate Media Day on Wednesday, but ‘Rowdy’ and opponent Nunes will not be present.

The media session is closed to the public, but fans will be able to attend the ceremonial weigh-ins on Thursday.

According to Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer, per Fight_Ghost, Rousey described the media day as stupid.

Irish MMA star Conor McGregor was removed from UFC 200 after refusing to attend a Las Vegas press conference in April, but it appears as though Rousey has come to an arrangement with the promotion prior to any scheduled media appearances.

The 29-year-old starred in a spectacular promo earlier this month, which centered on Rousey’s determination to prove the critics wrong at UFC 207.

The highly anticipated pay-per-view, which features a championship bout between Nunes and Rousey in the main event, takes place on Dec. 30 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
