The Nevada Athletic Commission and Nick Diaz have come to an agreement which will allow the fighter to compete again.

Nick Diaz has had a rough couple of years when it comes to cage-related activities. The popular Stockton fighter was busted by the Nevada Athletic Commission for a controversial marijuana-related drug test failure following his January 2015 bout with Anderson Silva, and eventually settled on an 18-month suspension and a $100,000 fine.

This would normally mean that Diaz would be free to fight by now, but according to the commission, he hadn’t paid the majority ($75,000) of his fine yet. Besides not being able to fight, this left him unable to corner his brother Nate Diaz for both of his fights with Conor McGregor.

Well, according to MMA Fighting, Diaz has reached an agreement with NAC and he’s free. Terms of the agreement weren’t made public, but Diaz is able to fight again and will be able to corner Nate or whoever else he chooses from now on.

Diaz (26-7, 2 NC, 7-6, 1 NC UFC) obviously hasn’t competed since that loss to Silva (which was flipped to a No Contest due to Silva’s own drug test failures), and has fought just twice in the last four years. He is still only 33 though, and remains a marquee draw for the organization. He is not booked for a fight as of yet, but my guess is that he will be soon.
