Dana White: ‘Floyd puts people to sleep with his fighting style, not with his hands’

Dana White ripped on Floyd Mayweather for the remarks made against Conor McGregor.

After a historic win at UFC 205, a good number of opportunities have opened up for Conor McGregor. Along with it also came the resurgence of talks about the much buzzed about super fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Recently, Mayweather went on record to express his disappointment about being compared to the first and only simultaneous two-weight UFC champion, and how he feels “disrespected” about it. Not to be outdone, McGregor later challenged the former pound-for-pound boxing king to talk to him face-to-face, while also giving out a figure of $100 million to make the fight happen from his end.

UFC president Dana White has also been vocal about his opinions on the talked about fight. For one thing, he had repeatedly insisted that there should be kicks, punches, and elbows involved, if the two men do end up squaring off. As for Mayweather’s recent rants, the brash-talking UFC executive also had something to say about it.

"Conor McGregor, if he touches you, you go to sleep,” White told TMZ. “Floyd puts people to sleep too, with his fighting style, not with his hands. You know how Floyd knocks people out? When they're not looking. Watch the Victor Ortiz fight."

White went on to defend his prized superstar, arguing how Mayweather’s accomplishments pales in comparison to what McGregor has already done at this stage of his career.

“This kid's just getting started. This kid's 28 years old,” White said of McGregor. “Floyd can say what he wants about Conor, but even other fighters have to respect him. He's special. Floyd's never even come close to doing to other fighters what Conor does."
