AFTER two rounds of elimination play and a complete field of eight, competition in Season 79 of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) men’s basketball is down to four teams with the semifinals about to begin this week.

Left standing to further their campaign are the De La Salle Green Archers (13-1), Ateneo Blue Eagles (10-4), Far Eastern University Tamaraws (9-5) and Adamson Soaring Falcons (8-6).

The Archers will face the Falcons while the Eagles battle the Tamaraws in the Final Four with La Salle and Ateneo holding twice-to-beat advantages.

RIO DE JANEIRO- Like a thief in the night, when no one was looking, Hidilyn Diaz made history for the Philippines.

The Zamboanga City native won the silver medal of the women's 53kg weightlifting with a total of 210kg at the Rio Olympic Games here on Sunday, ending the country's 20-year Olympic medal drought and becoming the first ever Filipina medalist in the games.
