Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight power-puncher, Jeremy Stephens, is still upset that Yair Rodriguez inadvertently poked him in the eye in the UFC Fight Night 159 main event last weekend in Mexico City. Stipe Miocic was like, “Hold the leash to my seeing-eye dog.” Turns out the reigning UFC heavyweight champion was injured so badly at UFC 241 that he will need to take the rest of the year off, according to ESPN, thanks to “multiple eye pokes” from Daniel Cormier in their early August rematch. “Mr. Miocic sustained a major retina injury from multiple eye pokes during his bout at UFC 241,” said Jim Walter, Miocic’s agent. “Our client’s health and safety is our top priority. We are excited for him to return to action when he is healthy to compete in his seventh consecutive world title fight.” Miocic recaptured the crown he lost to “DC” in summer 2018 and is expected to complete their trilogy once both parties are healthy enough to compete. It should be noted their heavyweight rubber match will serve as the last bout of Cormier’s career.
