Georges St-Pierre is promising a stoppage win against Michael Bisping, something he hasn’t done since 2009.

The last time Georges St-Pierre earned a stoppage victory was against B.J. Penn in 2009. It happened during his second title defense in his second reign as the UFC’s undisputed welterweight champion.

GSP will be coming out of a four-year hiatus to face Michael Bipsing at UFC 217 on November 4th. This time around, he will be taking on the role as the challenger for Bisping’s middleweight world title.

With that in mind, the 36-year-old St-Pierre says he has the sense of urgency to definitively win the fight.

“I’m the challenger. I’m not the champion this time,” St-Pierre told Sports Illustrated (transcript via MMA Junkie). “So I have to take the fight to him. I have to expect that if I’m going to a decision, and the fight is close, it’s not going to go my way. So I’m going to go there, and I’m going to put everything I have to finish him, fight like there’s no tomorrow.”

“We’re not desperate. I’m happy. I feel very blessed and fortunate to be in this position, and it’s a moment that a few people in the world are able to live. And I’m going to live that unique moment, and I will remember it for the rest of my life.”

St-Pierre last saw action in 2013 against Johny Hendricks, which resulted in a split decision verdict that some believed should not have been awarded to him. It was a performance which he did not want to end his career with, as he now promises a much better version of himself against Bisping.

“Satisfaction is the deathtrap,” St-Pierre said. “When you’re satisfied, you better retire. I’m not satisfied. I think I can do more, and I will prove it to everybody November 4th. I’m very happy. The sport has evolved, but I believe you haven’t seen the best out of me yet.”

“It’s much different. I got a lot more tools in my arsenal. I’ve been working on different things. If he’s expecting me the same as I was, it’s a big mistake on his part. I’m going to come out, and I want to shock the world.”

UFC 217 takes place at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
