Cody Garbrandt wants to fight T.J. Dillashaw on the upcoming UFC 217 card at Madison Square Garden.

It may almost be a full year until UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt is fit to return to the Octagon.

After outclassing Dominick Cruz to win the 135-pound belt last year, ‘No Love’ was expected to take on former teammate turned arch rival T.J. Dillashaw in July, but things fell through due to injury.

Garbrandt is currently nursing a back injury but looks to be on the mend, telling MMA Fighting that he wants to fight Dillashaw on Nov. 4 at the upcoming UFC 217 pay-per-view at Madison Square Garden, New York.

“I want MSG,” Garbrandt said via text message.

Although Garbrandt wants to fight in November, the 25-year-old talent is not currently training MMA and is focused on building his strength via rehab. With that said, the breakout star is feeling much better and looks forward to returning to a training routine.

“Feeling a lot better,” he said. “Hardly doing MMA. It’s been all rehab and strength and conditioning. I can’t wait to get back.”

A middleweight championship bout between Michael Bisping and Georges St-Pierre has also been targeted for UFC 217, and it promises to be one of the most stacked cards of the year.

Although no fights have been officially booked, the PPV is expected to take place on November 4 at Madison Square Garden Arena, New York.
