UFC president Dana White makes his estimate on the likely purse split between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor.

Should the Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor boxing match become a reality, it is expected for the UFC to be involved. According to UFC president Dana White, discussions between both camps are set to take place some time in the coming week.

“I think we get the McGregor side in the next couple of days. And then I go lock myself in a room for a couple days with Team Mayweather and see what we can come out with,” White said on his most recent appearance on The Herd with Colin Cowherd (via MMA Fighting).

White did clarify that the UFC’s involvement in the fight can only go as far as fight promotion. But for the purse split between the two fighters, the brash UFC executive says he is making sure that McGregor still gets on the good end of the deal, despite recognizing that Mayweather will be getting the bigger cut.

“It depends on how much the fight sells. And if the fight sells as well as I think it can, Floyd makes a little north of $100 (million) and Conor makes $75 (million),” White said.

“He (Mayweather) feels like he’s the A-side and he should get more of it. We haven’t really gotten into that negotiation yet. I wanted to get McGregor locked in first, because McGregor is under contract with me. And at the end of the day, does this fight make a ton of sense for me? It really doesn’t.”

“But Conor wants this thing really bad and I’ve said it many times, the kid’s stepped up and saved some big fights for me, man, so I’m in. I’ll figure it out.”

A couple of weeks ago, White called “bullsh-t” on Jeff Mayweather’s claims of the UFC wanting 80% of McGregor’s purse for the fight
