After months and months of waiting for his shot at the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight title — largely due to this — Yoel Romero will finally get his opportunity. The only problem is, it won’t be against Michael Bisping, and it won’t be for the real strap.

That’s because “Solider of God” is booked to tango against Robert Whittaker for the interim title, which is set to co-headline UFC 213 on July 9, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada, since the current champion still hasn’t healed from recent knee surgery.

Stockholm gets rowdy with a fine night of European action.

For a card that a lot of fans (and media) didn’t have very high expectations for, this was actually a fine Fight Night card with some very good performances. It was also helped by the fact that it was a Sunday daytime card for US viewers, which takes the sting out of watching a longer broadcast.

The next UFC event is set for June 3rd at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Featherweight champion Jose Aldo fights interim champ Max Holloway in a title unification bout. The co-main event sees recent strawweight title challengers Claudia Gadelha and Karolina Kowalkiewicz go toe-to-toe. Also on the main card is Vitor Belfort’s UFC farewell bout will be against Nate Marquardt, while Paulo Borrachinha fights Oluwale Bamgbose, and “welterweight prospect” (you know this will be said) Erick Silva opens the PPV broadcast against Yancy Medeiros.

Don’t get your hopes up that you’ll be seeing UFC women’s featherweight champion Germaine de Randamie fight Cris Cyborg any time soon.

UFC women’s featherweight champion Germaine de Randamie has yet to defend the title she won vs. Holly Holm back in February. It’s been assumed that Cris Cyborg would be her next opponent, given she’s the biggest star in that division and literally the only other women’s 145er on the UFC roster.

Georges St-Pierre finally revealed the reason for the delay of his UFC return.

After announcing Georges St-Pierre’s Octagon return against Michael Bisping in March, the UFC decided to scrap the fight earlier this month. According to UFC president Dana White, it was because St-Pierre would only be available to fight around November.

UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo has resigned himself to never getting the chance to avenge his loss to Conor McGregor.

Jose Aldo is gearing up for a featherweight title unification bout with Max Holloway at UFC 212. This will count as a title defense for Aldo, and it represents his first one since the infamous 13-second KO loss to Conor McGregor at UFC 194. McGregor “relinquished” his belt and currently possesses the lightweight strap, and is otherwise pursuing a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather.
