Many observers weren’t happy about the officiating that went on throughout several fights at UFC 247. But there was apparently more peculiar things happening behind the scenes involving the Texas commission.
Veteran analyst Joe Rogan and former bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz were both at the broadcast table cageside when they claim to have seen a judge not paying attention to nearly 30 seconds of action during the preliminary fight between Lauren Murphy and Andrea Lee.
It’s no surprise, given their long tenures inside the UFC’s lightweight division, that Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov would have a few opponents in common. Gleison Tibau, Michael Johnson, Rafael dos Anjos, and even Abel Trujillo have all fought both men. Notable as well, among that select group, is longtime lightweight action standout Edson Barboza.
If you’re not already pumped up and excited about the upcoming return battle between heavyweight giants Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury (and if you ain’t, why ain’t ya!), chances are you will be after seeing the new promo slot heavyweight legend Mike Tyson features in.
Raoni Barcelos is perfect in the UFC thus far, but his next opponent might have something to say about that. Brazilian outlet Combate reported today that Barcelos will meet Cody Stamann at UFC on ESPN 8 in Columbus on March 28th.
Barcelos (15-1, 4-0 UFC) has won all four of his UFC fights so far, with three coming inside the distance. His last victory came via decision over Said Nurmagomedov in December.
Daniel Cormier is playing the waiting game.
‘DC’ hasn’t fought since his TKO loss to Stipe Miocic at UFC 241 and the former UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion has no intention of returning to the Octagon unless offered an immediate rematch.
Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos knows he will have his hands full when he meets contender Curtis Blaydes at UFC Raleigh’s main event. However, that notion does not stop ‘Cigano’ from thinking about his future after the Saturday night fight, which he, of course, expects to win.
After two fights where he both lost, Daniel Cormier was able to come to a conclusion when it comes to facing Jon Jones. According to “DC,” the only chance to defeat the reigning 205-pound champion is if the fight was done at heavyweight.
Former two-division champion, Conor McGregor, had a return to form at UFC 246—stopping Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in a swift 40-seconds. Now, the big question surrounding the Irish icon is naturally, who will he face next?
Online gambling site SportsBetting.ag has released betting odds for McGregor’s next opponent, including rematches with Floyd Mayweather or Khabib Nurmagomedov, and new territory against Jorge Masvidal or Justin Gaethje. The site also offers up prop bets on how many times the ‘Notorious’ competes in 2020, and whether or not Conor will hold a UFC title by the end of the calendar year.
