An MMA fighter died after a TKO loss at Cage Titans 35 on Saturday.

MMA fighter Rondel Clark died Tuesday after suffering a stoppage loss last weekend, and now his death is being investigated.

The amateur fighter lost to Ryan Dunn via third-round TKO at Cage Titans 35 in Plymouth, Massachusetts on Saturday, Aug. 12. He was rushed to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth after being examined by doctors post-fight and later transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He passed away at the Boston medical center Tuesday morning, less than 72 hours after his first career defeat, per reports.

An investigation including the Massachusetts state police, the Plymouth Police Department, the District Attorney’s office and the Massachusetts State Athletic Commission (MSAC) (H/T MMAFighting.com) was launched the day of Clark’s death, per Plymouth County DA Timothy Cruz.

Per Cruz, the “cause and manner” of Clark’s death will be determined by The Office of the State Medical Examiner in Massachusetts.

Cage Titans released a statement on Clark’s death on social media Tuesday.

“Rondel was a cherished soul throughout his athletic career, known for his utter tenacity on the grid iron, grappling mats, and inside the MMA cage,” it read. “We at Cage Titans extend our deepest condolences to the Clark family, who request no outside communications at this time.”

The statement said Clark died “due to complications following his amateur bout.”

Clark passed away at the age of 26 and with an amateur record of 1-1.
