The Professional Fighters League, the fastest growing and most innovative sports league in the world, kicks off a stacked 2022 tonight, with the debut of the 2022 PFL Challenger Series. For the next eight weeks, mixed martial artists from around the world will compete for a chance at a life-changing contract with the PFL.

Week 1 will feature fighters from the light heavyweight division. The 2022 PFL Challenger Series emanates from Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida.

Headlining tonight’s four-fight card will be undefeated American Josh Silveira taking on Sudanese knockout artist Mohamed “King John” Juma. Son of mixed martial arts pioneer Marcus ‘Conan’ Silveira, Josh comes in with a perfect 7-0 record and the distinction of being a two-division LFA champion. Tonight, Silveira competes for a PFL contract. Standing in his way will be Juma, who has 8 victories all by way of knockout. Juma is the first fighter from Sudan to compete in the PFL SmartCage, with the ultimate goal of being the first Sudanese PFL champion.

In the co-main event, hard-hitting German Alexander “Ironside” Poppeck takes on proven finisher Taylor “Tombstone” Johnson of the United States. Poppeck and Johnson come into tonight’s contest with a combined 14 stoppages, which should make for an exciting encounter. Poppeck has won four of his last five fights, while all seven of Johnson’s wins have come via finish.

Also on the card, two experienced fighters will clash, as Travis “Bam Bam” Davis of the United States meets Bruce “Soldado de Cristo” Souto of Brazil. A former member of the US Marine Corps, Davis has won two of his last three fights, with nine of his ten wins coming via finish. Souto meanwhile, is riding an impressive 8-fight win streak, with six of his 14 wins coming by stoppage.

Opening tonight’s card is a battle between Miles “The Black Santa” Amos of the United States and Karl Williams of the Virgin Islands. Amos is riding the momentum of back-to-back wins, including a first-round submission. Williams, meanwhile, has earned two of his three career wins by first-round KO.
