Following the 420 teams record set last year, the Ceres Cup broke own record anew with 465 teams competing in the 2-day 4th Ceres Cup on May 20-21, 2017 at the North Field, Carlos Hilado Memorial State College Football Field and Sta. Maria Football Field – all in Talisay City.

Started with 306 teams in 2014, Ceres Cup has grown tremendously through the years – expecting more than 10,000 players, coaches and parents coming over for the weekend’s tournament.

Among the participants is a Korean team brought over by former Ceres FC coach Cha Soong Yong that will participate in the Men’s 40 along with other foreign-bannered teams like Rising Sun of Cebu – which is composed of mostly Japanese players. Also expected playing in this tournament are Vietnamese, Americans and English players, to name a few.

“Ceres Negros Football Club is humbled by the overwhelming support the Philippine football community has shown to the Ceres Cup throughout the years,” said tournament chairman Nicolas Golez.

A vision of Ceres FC manager Leo Rey Yanson, this football festival aims at providing football enthusiasts the opportunity to foster and exhibit sportsmanship in a competitive, safe, and friendly environment. It also seeks to encourage and promote football development in Negros Occidental.

Gracing tomorrow’s event are Gov. Alfredo Maranon Jr., Vice-Governor Bong Lacson, Bacolod Cong. Greg Gasataya, 3rd District Rep. Albee Benitez, Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Talisay City Mayor Neil Lizares and Talisay City VM Samson Siote.
