FIDE Master David Elorta emerged the winner of the one-day tough Chess Circle Club-All Masters Rapid chess tournament which concluded last Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the second floor Activity Hall of Alphaland Makati Place in Malugay Street, Makati City.

Elorta, a habitue of Tarrasch Knight Chess Club in Guadalupe Mall, collected 6.0 points to win the seven-round tournament going home with the top purse of P10,000 and “Eugene Torre Trophy” in the National Chess Federation of the Philippines sanctioned tournament organized by Chess Circle Club International founding head/ president Leonardo "Nards" Jimenez and vice president Exy Perez in close cooperation with Asia's First Grandmaster Eugene Torre, Lea Bautista and Alphaland Corporation which attracted 26 country's chess masters.

Novelty Chess-Club President Sonsea Agonoy was awarded as the champion of National City Chess Club 2018 Grand Prix in National City, San Diego, California, USA. Tie for 2nd & 3rd Southern California and Las Vegas Champions/awardees Joel Quiba and Ben Barquin.

The Bacarra, Ilocos Norte native Agonoy got $373 for his effort.

Doroy (elo 1972) settled for a draw with 18th seed Woman International Master Dewi Ardhiani Anastasia Citra (2215) of Indonesia to keep her grip of the the top ten along with six others after the fifth round of the 17th Asian Continental Chess Championships (2nd Manny Pacquiao Cup) Friday at the Tiara Oriental Hotel in Makati.

Doroy, one of the top players of National University (NU) Team Manager Samson Go now has 3.0 points, a good for a tie for tenth to 16th spots.

The 33th seed Doroy, one of the top players of National University (NU) Team Manager Samson Go yielded to 16th seed Woman International Master Tianlu Gu (2231) of China.

MAKATI CITY, Philippines –FILIPINO International Masters Ricardo De Guzman (elo 2357), Roderick Nava (elo 2392) and Haridas Pascua (elo 2442) posted contrasting results in the fourth round of the 17th Asian Continental Chess Championships (2nd Manny Pacquiao Cup) Thursday at the Tiara Oriental Hotel in Makati.

De Guzman defeated International Master Sumiya Bilguun (elo 2497) of Mongolia, Nava lost to tournament top seed GM Wang Hao (elo 2730) of China while Pascua yielded to International Master Nodirbek Yakubboev (elo 2556) of Uzbekistan.
