INANGKIN ni International Master (IM) Joel Pimentel ng Bacolod City ang titulo ng 1st engineer Joseph A. Ignacio Chess Cup tournament na isinagawa sa Pinoy Chess Club Online (PCConline) Chess Challenge facebook site nitong Sabado, Mayo 12, 2018.

Si Pimentel na miyembro ng multi-titled Philippine Army chess team ay nakaipon ng 6.0 na puntos para makopo ang titulo at top prize na P1,500 sa event na inorganisa ni Pinoy Chess Club Online Facilitator, Arbiter FNA Noel Morales kung saan nagsilbing punong abala si tournament director engineer Joseph A. Ignacio cup sa 2 minutes bullet time control format.

Tumapos naman sa ika-2 puwesto si dating Philippine Junior Champion National Master (NM) Marc Christian Nazario matapos makalikom ng 5.0 puntos tungo sa pagsubi sa runner-up purse P1,000.

Nasa ika-3 puwesto naman si Datu Ali Sinsuat na may 5.0 puntos para maiuwi ang P700. Pang-apat na puwesto naman si Tino Laurio na may 4.0 na puntos sapat para tangapin ang P500.

Si Woman Fide Master (WFM) Cherry Ann Mejia na nagtala ng 2.0 puntos para masikwat ang top lady award tungo sa P300.

Kabilang sa mga tinalo ni Pimentel ay sina Venancio Loyola Jr., Walt Allen Talan, Tino Laurio at at National Master Marc Christian Nazario.
