    Balinas Lifecore Cup 2019 goes to Calapan

    The region’s top executive chess players will see action in the 12th leg of the 2019 Grandmaster Rosendo Balinas Jr. Chess Cup also known as the Lifecore Enterprises National Executive Grand Prix Chess Championships which will be held September 14 (Saturday) at the Bulwagang Panlalawigan in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.

    Tournament director and Philippine Executive Chess Association (PECA) Public Relation Officer (PRO) Emmanuel “Noel” Bandelaria Asi said the one-day rapid event is open to all qualified members of Philippine Executive Chess Association, supported by Nicolas Ramil Castro of Lifecore Enterprises Inc. in close cooperation with the local government of Calapan City, province of Oriental Mindoro as well Engr. Antonio “Tony” Carreon Balinas, older brother of the late GM Rosendo Carreon Balinas.

    Philippine Executive Chess Association (PECA) president Dr. Jenny Mayor said the tournament is a 7-round Swiss System affair, with 20 minutes playing time and five seconds delay.

    The champion will take home P10,000, while the second placer will take home P7,000. The third placed wins P5,000; the fourth placer gets P3,000 and the fifth placer wins P2,000.

    There will also be special prizes for the top senior, 1900 and below, unrated, Mindoreno and female, who will each receive P1,000.

    Registration for the NCFP-sanctioned event is P1,000 , on-site registration is P1,200 while annual membership is P1,000.
